She graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Math. She remained in Nashville and earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She then moved to Atlanta where she completed her residency in Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine. Upon completion of her residency\, Dr. Aaron was appointed a faculty position in Comprehensive Ophthalmology at Emory\, served as the Residency Program Director for 14 years and was promoted to Professor of Ophthalmology at Emory in 2013. \nAs the Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education\, she is responsible for 108 residency programs\, and 1355 residents and fellows at Emory. On a national level\, she has served on several committees\, such as the Program Directors’ Council of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology and the ACGME Residency Review Committee for Ophthalmology. She has been an Associate Examiner for the ABO Oral Board Examination and currently serves as the Secretary of the Annual Meeting and on the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. \nIn recognition of her contributions to resident education\, Dr. Aaron received the Straatsma Award for Excellence in Resident Education and the ACGME Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award\, which honors 10 program directors across all specialties in the country who find innovative ways to teach residents. \nDr. Aaron truly enjoys her clinical and surgical practice and is frequently ranked in the top 10% of all Emory physicians for patient satisfaction.
